01 — Who we are
Compound Studio is a web design studio operated by Pedro, focused on building websites, landing pages, and web experiences for founders and companies with something worth selling. Our website is compoundstudio. design.
When this policy says "we" or "us" it means Compound Studio. When it says "you" it means anyone visiting the site, using the Compound Scorecard, or engaging with us about a project.
02 — What information we collect
We only collect what we actually need to do the work.
Contact information
Your name and email address, if you fill out a form, book a call, or reach out directly about a project.
Scorecard responses
Your answers to the Compound Scorecard questionnaire, and your email address if you request a full audit report.
Usage data
Pages visited, time on site, device type, and browser — collected automatically through Google Analytics. This data is aggregated and does not identify you personally.
Project communications
Emails or messages you send as part of a project inquiry or active engagement.
We do not collect payment information directly. All payments are processed through third-party platforms, such as Stripe or Contra, under their own privacy policies.
03 — Why we collect it and the legal basis
We process your information for the following reasons:
Purpose | Legal basis |
|---|---|
Responding to project inquiries | Legitimate interest / pre-contractual steps |
Delivering your Scorecard audit report | Performance of a service you requested |
Communicating during an active project | Contract performance |
Improving the site and Scorecard tool | Legitimate interest |
Sending follow-up messages | Consent (only if you've opted in) |
We do not sell your data. We do not share it with third parties for advertising. We do not use it for anything not listed here.
04 — Cookies and analytics
Our website uses cookies and analytics tools to understand how visitors use the site.
Analytics cookies
We use Google Analytics to track page visits and general usage patterns. Data is aggregated and anonymized where possible. You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking via Google's opt-out tool.
Essential cookies
Required for the site to function correctly. These cannot be disabled without affecting site performance.
Preference cookies
May store basic settings to improve your experience on return visits.
You can disable or manage cookies at any time through your browser settings. Note that disabling cookies may affect how parts of the site work.
05 — Third-party tools
We use a small set of trusted tools to run the studio. Each operates under its own privacy policy:
Framer — website building and hosting
Contra — project and payment platform for some client engagements
Google Analytics — site analytics
Email providers (Gmail / similar) — sending and receiving communications
Cal.com or Calendly — scheduling calls
We do not use these tools for purposes beyond what's described in this policy.
06 — Data retention
We keep your data only as long as it's genuinely needed:
Project communications — kept for the duration of the project and up to 2 years after completion, for legitimate record-keeping purposes.
Scorecard responses and audit emails — retained for up to 12 months.
Analytics data — retained according to Google Analytics' default settings (up to 14 months by default).
Marketing opt-ins — held until you withdraw consent.
If you ask us to delete your data, we will do so promptly and confirm when it's done.
07 — Your rights
You have the right to:
Know what personal data we hold about you
Request a copy of your data
Ask us to correct inaccurate data
Ask us to delete your data
Object to how we use your data
Withdraw consent for marketing communications at any time
If you're in the EU or UK, these rights are protected under GDPR. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority if you believe your rights haven't been respected.
If you're in California, the CCPA gives you similar rights, including the right to know, delete, and opt out of the sale of personal information (we don't sell it, but we want you to know).
We honor these rights regardless of where you're based. Just get in touch.
08 — Data security
We take reasonable precautions to protect your data. Communications are encrypted in transit. We limit who has access to any personal information we hold. That said, no method of transmission over the internet is completely secure — we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we take it seriously.
09 — Children's privacy
Our website and services are not directed at anyone under 16. We do not knowingly collect information from minors. If you believe a minor has submitted information to us, contact us and we will delete it immediately.
10 — Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the studio evolves or tools change. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will always reflect the most recent version. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated policy. For significant changes, we'll make it easy to notice.
